2025 Aims and Goals

January 5, 2025

When I originally set out to write this post, I thought about doing it in an annual review style format. It’s something I’d never done before, and I thought it might be good to look back at 2024 and reflect on what I accomplished compared to my goals at the start of the year.

I immediately encountered a problem, this site didn’t exist at the start of the year, and I can’t really remember what my goals were, which makes reflection somewhat difficult. So instead of looking back at last year, I’m going to focus on what goals I have for 2025, and then at least I won’t end off with the same problem this time next year.

Work Life

I have been in my current job for 3 years now, and am now onto my third team in the business. Last year was book-ended by two team swaps, the first in February and the second in November. For 2025, I’m hoping for no more team changes, and just to focus on gaining domain knowledge on my current team and delivering my projects. I’m aiming low on that side of things. In terms of personal development, I plan on exploring more courses on Leadership and Management, with the hope of moving towards a Lead Developer position further in the future.

Side Projects

My list of side project ideas is ever growing, into an ever shrinking amount of time to work on them. Last year, this website was the only side project I actually shipped. I’m not sure which projects I’ll decide to proceed with, but my aim is to ship at least one more project in 2025.

Gaming Plans

I think in reflection, I have probably dedicated too much of my free time to Gaming, even though it’s my favourite past time. I’m going to try and manage this better, allowing more time for me to explore some of the other things in this list. That said, I’m hoping to play through GTA: Vice City and San Andreas before the release of GTA 6 at the end of the year.

Origami

I was fortunate enough to receive some great Origami resources for Christmas, including paper and books. My current aim is to work through the books, and fold as many models as I can. I want to fold at least 1 model of some description a day for the year, just to keep practicing. I would also like to complete my first Senbazuru, and have my first attempt at making Double Tissue paper for some complex models.

This Site

Finally, I want to keep adding content here, and sharing what I’m doing with the world. I’m not going to go nuts though, I feel like trying to keep up with my goal of 1 post a month should be more than enough.

And that’s it! My goals for 2025, and something for me to reflect on come the end of the year. Hopefully I’ll be posting about each of them here over the coming months. Have you set goals of your own that you’d like to share? If you’d like to talk about mine or yours, let me know on my socials.
