It’s been a while since I last set up a portfolio or blog website for myself, and having killed off the last iteration some years ago, I decided it was time to look at re-building it from the ground up.

The last time I did this, I was looking at changing jobs and it was purely a learning exercise for some of the tech I was going to be using. This time round, I simply had the urge to do more writing, and sharing more about what I’m working on, the games I’ve been playing, and the Origami models I’ve been making (usually badly).

For first time visitors here, I’m a Software Developer from the North East of England. I started out my career working mostly with Java and Oracle, but moved over to .Net around 5 years ago and now spend most of my time working with that and AWS.

I’ve been playing video games for over 25 years, starting out with a PlayStation 1, I’ve owned Xbox’s, Nintendos, and gaming PCs over the years. Nowadays I have a bit less time, but my current platform of choice is a PS5 and at the time of writing any time I do get is on Elden Ring.

As I mentioned above I make Origami models and apparently the noun for this is “Origamist”. It doesn’t sound quite right to me, and based on the quality of some creations I’m not sure I would qualify, but either way you might have spotted it on my home page. It’s something I’ve dabbled with on and off, but I started trying to make models more regularly in 2023.
